No, not off topic. I know the story and may post it. The sad thing is that after the event , esp. military of the Germans , French, and British made such fraternization an act of treason with death penalty. I think the soldiers might have gotten together to stop fighting and end the war! And to hell with their governments and old men sending the young to die.
Slightly off topic but maybe of interest — the other night I heard a beautiful version of John McCutcheon’s “Christmas in the Trenches,” a song about the (WWI) Christmas Eve Truce of 1914. There are several videos of it on YouTube.

Same to you. Sadly in the history of our country the soldiers don’t get to have holidays. Picture 3 and 4 are Dec. 26 at Trenton, New Jersey.
