I think if this original game had not been modified, perhaps there never would have been a need for blood sport and the gladiators! But the horses were happy for the change, no doubt.
Perhaps for a few weeks and that was worth it. Mother passed 12 days before my parents 68th wedding anniversary. Alas most of mine never lasted 68 days. That was probably best for me and them.
