I remember my son–who got good grades always–coming home with a ‘C’ in high school and being so concerned I called a meeting with the teacher to see what the problem was. His response to me; “Ma’am a C is a good grade in my class.” I’ll never forget that. I’m sure my son hasn’t forgotten it either.
A lot of teachers are like that. They are real jerks. They think they are the guardians of academia and the gatekeepers of knowledge. I had the same type of professors in college and lost scholarship money because of it. They also taught me how NOT to grade in my 33 years of teaching. I gave A for real good, B for pretty good, C for decent, very few D’s and F’s for those that did nothing, slept or skipped or always absent never asking for make up. I never counted points. They are just teenagers for Keerist’s sake !

For me, word play and allusions to history and literature are fertile fields from which to harvest cartoon ideas. Thanks for dropping by.

Oh I know about those D’s and F’s. Took me extra year and a half to finish college and graduated with 2.0. Just made it.

Pools of smiles. Hmmm. That’s an idea for a poem.
