Oh my gosh. Just read your haiku above and I’m still laughing!
Love your poem up top, too! I like the Sergeant Major line–we’re all working our way to General! I didn’t know you were a poet, Carl. I look forward to more.
There is often more and better humor in the comments than the post. Have lots of poetry and more to rework. I usually structure to have same syllabic count per line but not all the time. Will post poem tomorrow. .
Carl, sit up straight. You look like you’re posing for the cover of a new edition of “The Old Man and the Sea,” and I know for a fact you’re a Baby Boomer so you’re not old at all. Your life is just beginning!
We do wear our faces, don’t we, and oft wear them right out. Yours is attended well by time. I realise this age how aging is unavoidable. When I first saw a grey hair I held it out to Daniel in shock comment. He was not surprised. Apparently he’d noticed before, ho hum. Yes, but it’s ME going grey slowly!!!!! Hope the colour suits…
there is something about wrinkles that make a person more attractive. You are wearing it like hmmm shall we say, Richard Gere? or my fav Charles Bronson.
As a Joni Mitchell, Carol King, Judy Collins, Melanie, and Linda Ronstadt fan, naturally I enjoyed. I will look her up for more. Thanks for adding to the post. Such is always welcome.
No, I haven’t stopped it but I am on a hiatus while I finish this last year of school. My fieldwork starts in April and getting ready for that takes a lot of time. I’m surprised you can’t reach it. I’ll check it out to see what is going on. But I won’t be blogging regularly for the forseeable future. Thanks for checking. 🙂
“Wear their faces, tied shoe laces” … great prose, Carl. I love it when someone is proud of who they are and don’t have a need to look younger.
Blessings to you and dad ~ Maxi
Where’s my wallet ? Car keys ? Today is it cardiologist or ophthalmologist appt ? Does social security come on the 3rd or the third Wednesday ? God, my knee hurts. Do I take the green pill or the pink one in the morning? Where did I put my glaucoma drops ? God my knee hurts.

Nice. Have you tried any haikus, Carl? I would think you’d be very good at them.

Yes just 63 and it is more a poem of reflection than lament. But I can’t believe how “oldified” have become most of my peers.

Perhaps Sean Connery, eh ? And I have all my hair. I am doing better than King Tut, however.

Have a lot of poems to refine. Usually 12 lines or less and usually each line same syllabic count.
