Summer tires are what Floridians keep on their cars all the time. Up here in Santa’s Backyard we have four types of tires, summer, “all-season”, snow, and ice tires. People who make enough money to pay large insurance premiums and have relatives that own auto body shops by all-season compromises. I grew up in Montreal, where men are men and winter is winter, so I buy dedicated seasonal tires. In summer I like to have sticky good cornering tires and in winter I like ice tires (which are not too bad in the snow). Both my cars take non-standard sizes so I have to special order them and it just happens that this year all eight of my summer tires (for two cars) are dead, so I had to get new ones ($2,000 I’d rather spend on a new lens or put towards a new camera body). The wife’s car has ice tires for winter while mine has snow tires (couldn’t get ice tires in my size on short notice, and I needed them quick).
Don’t you boys of eternal summer in The South have to get special tires for hurricane season or for when there are a lot of alligators crossing the roads? Sounds like there’s a buck to be made for some enterprising Floridian!
Keep the goofs coming. Yes from last year. Will often repost seasonal and holiday ones as blog has grown by 400% new subscribers and certainly post new ideas as well.
1. Make a snowball.
2. Apply it to his rear.
3. Remove hat.
4. Turn hat upside down and disguise s basket.
5. Hang basket on arm.
4. Remove nose and place in basket.
5. Throw in some chocolate.
…and we won’t even know the difference.
Obviously, you forget your journey to Buffalo. Snow at Easter is the norm. Clever cartoon and lovely musings. Lyrical without being Cliche. You have excellent control of diction and tone.
Thank you for that kind comment. Yes , I was in Buffalo December of 1985. Too bad my English professors of 40 years ago did not agree. They suggested I should never pick up a pen and become a farmer or fisherman perhaps. So I changed and majored in history and religious studies. Poo on them.
Carl, it is still under 45 degrees in Upstate New York. Frosty could still survive on my lawn. Dang it. Bring on the bunnies. There ought to be bunnies.
I remember often having snow around Easter – used to be more likely then than around Christmas.
Here are two musical versions – the tribute song Easter Snow by Christy Moore – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFh2CCyOX_Y
Frosty has beautiful work to do! He will join the clouds as he evaporates, will make beautiful shapes in the sky, will fall into the ocean, will be lifted again to the heavens, and will fall once again at the department store’s front door just in time for his season with us.
I don’t think the marketers and admen are very smart. Don’t they get it that the public is insulted by this mercenary invasion of values people have for the season?
OMG. Mark you are right. I think WalMart starts in August. The joke here in Miami is that August and September are hottest months and last thing on anyone’s mind is Christmas.

Time to put Frosty in the freezer till next year. I’ve got to pick up my 8 summer tires today and there are dandelions on the lawn… yup, it’s spring.
