dear carl, preparing a book about reindeers with a school here in karlsruhe, germany, i cam across your cartoon. would you allow that we use it in the chapter about “jokes about reindeers”. certainly, if you like, we would send you a copy of the book. kind regards. thomas
Yes you may use the cartoon. Just credit blog. Thank you for asking permission. Perhaps I can come up with a few more if you like. There would be no charge and would love copy book. Let me know.
OMG! Too funny! Even Santa doesn’t stand out from Wall Street. And this is his busy season. I’m gonna have to side with the reindeer. They have to work in extreme weather conditions and being in the cold is not my thing. There lies my partiality.
It is now time Dave. Pay your union dues. Say farewell to loved ones and make peace with God. “These are times that try men’s souls…..” -Thomas Paine (cc 1777) Man the barricades, brandish the New Testament, pass the ammunition, and victory or death against the capitalist exploiters of human kind. I would , however care to retain ownership of my town house , my car, and my very modest pension. And my health insurance, and my…..
Sometimes I am inclined to agree. But if we look deeper it is apparent that the predictions of Karl Marx re capitalistic excesses leading to the concentration of 90% of the world’s wealth for 1% of the population has come true. So the unions are the only defense for the proletariat workers. It does not seem fair, however, that millions of children and their Christmas dreams are held in the balance by these dramatic events. I certainly do not want another Bolshevik thing like in 1917 at St. Petersburg nonsense here in the USA. We are hopeful that the reindeer will go ahead and perform their duty now and we will have an entire year to work something out for next year.
Are you ready for this? THEY WANT CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS DAY as paid holidays at double time! As they don’t work the other 363 days of the years, well are they crazy? Their union reps say it it a matter of reparations for hundreds of years of slavery and economic and political injustice. Representatives for Santa Claus have leaked that they may attempt to break the strike by hiring unicorns.
Retirement also is on the table, but rumor has it they want it at 50 like those “life owes me living” French. They are going to have to learn what the word “austerity” means because the North Pole cannot afford such extravagance for private sector or federal employees.

They could have it worse. They might be asked to pull Newt Gingrich’s overstuffed butt all over the campaign trail.

Well, Santa does work his reindeer pretty hard. It’s only a matter of time before the elves go on strike, too. Santa and his sweatshop! It’s dreadful!
