These days, when you pay peanuts, you only get monkeys to work for you. This is obviously much earlier.

Capitalism expects everyone to work for peanuts. But when you work for peanuts, workers cannot become consumers of the goods they manufacture so corporations limit their income source out of greed which is foolish.
