When I had just started working, many moons ago, for a big bank, it was undergoing the process of ‘computerisation’. Some of the workmen unions were opposed to it because of fear of loss of jobs. In that period, if a customer asked why something was taking time, a standard response of the opposed staff used to be, “You see sir, we have computerised…” and leave it hanging there.
Yes, seems with dept of education things were done faster 40 years ago when info was kept on paper and 5 x 7 cards and sent by postage mail delivery than in today’s world of computerized internet speed.
