I wounder what it was like for grandparents. Treated like cattle at Ellis Island but seemed orderly. But Miami Dade Country at least 55% foreign born. The definition of American changes every day. Perhaps that is a good thing. It has always been that way for this or that reason.
I don’t mind learning bits and pieces of other languages esp ethnic restaurant menus but being a stranger in my own country is ” discomforting” but this is humor not political so I’ll stop right there.
Lived in Miami 60 years but they can’t get da blood outta me. At a baseball game there are more Mets fans than Marlins fans and the Jets have a good showing at Dolphins’ football games and Bills too.
I’d say that with the attitude you displayed to that poor woman, that you were born on “Static Island” New York! Yeesh, she’s got a tough job and you immigrants don’t make it any easier!
I sent a complete set of team player cards to Yankees spring training camp in Tampa the other day requesting autographs with return envelop for each player. Yesterday got Nick Goody in mail. Yo boy Ted Williams never returns my letters. What’s up with that ?

I see you made it off to the police with your head on. Maybe not screwed on too tight though, after all that yelling.

Perhaps she thought Staten Island is in the islands! You can carry a plain green index card to hand out. I doubt they have a sense of humor though.
