Repeat after me “Shaving is evil, shaving is evil”
The Bible says that there are many other things that Jesus did that aren’t written down. I wonder if Shaving was one of the unwritten temptations Satan tempted him with in the wilderness?
Also Paul had a beard & there is that old hymn Give Me That Old Time Religion that I’m sure refers to beards;
“It’s good enough for Paul & Silas, good enough for Paul & Silas, good enough for Paul & Silas and it’s good enough for me”
I think the ancient cultures disdained shaving out of contempt for the Romans. They also had contempt for the Romans because Romans took baths, cleaned their teeth and knew not to drink polluted water. Then there was that tax thing…On the other hand I am half Roman and have a beard as did the noblest Roman of all, Marcus Aurelius.
I’ve recently been reading a book about early church history & am on the chapter about Justin Matyr & there’s a lot about Justin’s dealings with Marcus Aurelius

Could be a not so subtle hint… to look younger.

If that was intended as a perfect gift, not even a close shave.

Just remember not to give it to the same person that gave it to you. That’s a very big “oooops”.
