My Dad built a hi-fi system from the tiny transitors (for the turn table) to the wooden cabinets (for turn table and speaker)…it was a thing of beauty. We had it long before we had a television. And on it we played his beloved 33 1/3 rpm vinyls and a lot of the musical artists you have on display. My Mom’s favorite were the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Lawrence Welk. Dad loved anything that was even remotely Christmas…I can now sing almost any Christmas songs with the youngest grandkids (except for the very newest). It’s a memory I hope I never forget 🙂
Papa loves Mambo, Catch a falling stars and put in your pocket never let it fade away, When the stars in your eyes, thats amore. I grew up listening to Perry Como because of my older siblings. Still my fav.
I loved “Catch a Falling Star….” but I knew if I did and burned a hole in my pants pocket my mother would beat the crap out of me with the giant wooden salad spoon.
Wait, what? Where’s the Nat King Cole album? Yes, I remember all of these. In fact, I have most of them on CDs, transferred into iTunes on my computer.
Oh- and thanks for reminding me of just how old I am! 😀
Yes, real Christmas music. My dad had a great collection of Christmas music. I don’t enjoy the modern songs as much as the originals. Happy listening and Merry Christmas.
Perry Como was like the Mister Rogers for adults, though I cherished him as a child, too. What a gentle peacefulness he shared. I was going to say “It isn’t Christmas without a Lennon Sisters album,” but there it is — the very same one I have! And I miss Andy Williams.. and all those other greats of whom you’ve reminded us. They made us feel that all was calm, all was bright. 🙂

Well, I remember Perry Como well, he lived not far from me in Jupiter Florida on the inter-coastal waterway.

My parents lived in Pt St Lucie for a decade. I would go to Ft Pierce Beach and Jensen Beach when I visited.

I was born in Miami. Not that many native Miamians. My son also born here. I love Jensen Beach, it’s beautiful!
