Ah, yes but do you know the story of our (I’m Presbyterian) Puritan minister. From 1630-1640 he wrote a lexicon of the entire language of the Narragansett Indians in word form in their language. From 1640-1650 he copied the whole Bible into that language and taught them to read. The Massachusetts General Assembly had a printing press sent over from England and his Bible was the first printed book in the English colonies !
