Many thanks for a fine review, Carl. Just being mentioned on the same page as Edgar Allen Poe is a real compliment, to say nothing of the comparison. The rest of your post is thoughtful and insightful–and greatly appreciated.
As you know, I’m a real fan of your blog and enjoy both reading and commenting. My online participation has been spotty lately due to my schedule and persistent problems with my internet connection (in fact, I just lost it when I tried to post my reply to you–fingers crossed that it goes through this time). Hopefully, I’ll be back with the pack soon.
Again, many thanks for a great review.
I really did enjoy it and have recently become a fan of the well researched historical novel. Just started “The Birth of Venus” by Sarah Dunant, the first book of hers I have to read.
