No programs or applications. My computer skills quite lacking. I hand draw with black roller tip pen, scan, then open in gimp to clean up sketch and color.
Oh certainly yes. No plagiarism. Sometimes the sketch comes to mind first and I have to think up an appropriate gag and other times the joke comes to mind first and I have to design a fitting sketch. Sometimes I focus on something, say alligators for example. I play with it until an idea emerges but most of the time an idea pops into my head and I have no idea from where it visits me.
This reminds me of this one time Arthur Miller was asked by an interviewer where his ideas came from and he said, I quote, “I wish I knew; Iād go there more often”.
I have an idea but not sure if you’d like it, can you visit my latest post and see if you can come up with a cartoon for it? Just a rough idea, won’t even post it or anything, but I’m curious about what your mind would do to it. https://ayeshapalwasha.wordpress.com/2016/03/26/my-writings-the-jinn-of-the-peepli-a-short-story/
I’ll share with you one of MANY eccentricities: I laugh at my own jokes and like this one a lot. Anthropomorphism of animals and inanimate objects with human traits makes for great humor.

Fantastic! What softwares or applications do you use to make your drawings? Love this one, so witty.

Perfect! That’s absolute talent you’ve got there..
Keep making us smile!
And do you come up with the jokes you base your drawings on, yourself?

Leaf no tree puns behind. Tree pun people really know their roots.

I think it’s hilarious. I love the details… the beard – and the tribute. What a great pic. Thanks for the chuckle, Carl.

At some time you must have lived on Elm Street. Hope you did not run into Freddie or Jason.
