Yeah, I had to shave because the New York Boxing Commission ruled that a beard buffered a punch to the jaw. I was too fast to get hit in the first place. Merry Christmas PJ.

Adorable, Carl. Prepared you for all the fights of the future. I’m so happy that you and your dad are celebrating another Christmas together. Peace and love. my dear friend.
Carl..A very Happy Belated Birthday to your father…and what a blessing to still have him at the age of 92…this pic is priceless…and these memories live on forever…God Bless you and your family….Merry Christmas.
Only for a few moments that day. But Father fought as a teen in Police Athletic League in New York City and was boxing instructor for 8th Armored Division, US Army in WW II. He was about to go pro but married my mother and became a welder in the shipyards. The family joke is that he “exchanged one ring for another”.
I have no brothers or sisters. I did play men’s softball in non pro leagues for a dozen years or so. I could usually hit the ball over that right field fence most of the time but am not the athlete to ever have played professional. I do follow baseball.
Ah, the memory of the day in is my mind like yesterday. Can you see the gleam in my eyes ? I was so proud and felt like such a big man for that moment. My hair wasn’t white then – a rich speckled chestnut brown. I’ve gained a few pounds too. Merry Christmas.
