I remember that day. I was in 9th grade, 5th period Arithmetic class and the announcement came over the PA. When the funeral parade passed and watched on TV and little John John saluted the casket I broke down and cried.
Me, too — grade 9, broke down, stared in total disbelief when Ruby shot Oswald. I was just leaving school to go to a piano competition and when I wanted to turn on the car radio, my mom didn’t want me to; she knew how upset I’d be. But, like you, I’d already heard the announcement in school that he’d been shot and was hoping that it wouldn’t be fatal. We were all numb the whole weekend — glued to the TV. 9/11, too. The absolute horror of it. Still hard to talk about it.

Ah, you spotted the flower pot with feet as stand. I just could not resist buying such a charming but corny item.

It’s a bit like the day President Kennedy was assassinated — the world stood beside you in shock and empathy. We remember.
