The Curse of Sicily Upon You

That’s unbelievable straight out theft…I wonder how much of this goes on without us ever knowing?

Esp stuff cranked out in China flagrant copyright/patent theft.

Wow. Dirty creep indeed. A pox on both their houses. And now I know never to mess with Mr. C! Or should I say, Don C?
March 31st, 2014 at 16:00
Actually don’t and never had any connection to those bad guys. They are a disgrace to real Italians who make an honest living.
March 31st, 2014 at 13:19
You got my attention, Carl–no stabs at plagiarism coming from this camp, that’s-a-fo’-sure.
March 31st, 2014 at 13:35
I have always credited and cited if the material was so noted even if in public domain if I can find the origin. In academic papers even if text in my own words and not direct quote to be footnoted I still would note with asterisk attributing to author. *according to…, * summarizing his…*adding observations of her… This can be done with a general footnote or in body of text. Citations add legitimacy to any text as it reveals the author’s research which enhances not diminishes any commentary.
I am still recovering from resentment for that Hemingway fellow and that Shakespeare follow having clandestinely attached their names to novels and plays which I wrote. I also wrote the 10 Commandments and will eventually bring copyright suit against that Moses guy.

As others have suggested…at least it means they think highly of your work, right?
March 31st, 2014 at 12:50
Yes, that’s the way I should accept it. If anyone inquires I suppose the reference has to come back to me anyway.

Here’s a pic of your book distracting one of earth’s enemies from destroying the world. (from BBC Broadcasting House in London.)
March 31st, 2014 at 12:46
Now that looks super. I am committed to serve Captain America and Superman and Iron Man to destroy the villains of the world.

Author in Norway. After several followup emails with no response I deleted all conversation and email so don’t even remember or have contact anymore. Several bloggers who I follow have had the same problem so I thought I’d post a rant of sorts. You were the first one Malcolm, over three years ago, to ask to use cartoons. From Brisbane, on the other side of the world ! I was and remain so happy about it. My work skills have improved a great deal since then. In several hundred thousand blog exchanges I have had only two or three disagreeable incidents.

You are the original!
March 30th, 2014 at 19:37
Have you been doing more water colors of the buildings ?
March 31st, 2014 at 16:52
Lately I am using just ink for the drawings, and I am learning and practicing some calligraphy. I will get back to watercolor and buildings soon.

Hey, best friend. How could I not know you have blog up and running ? If you need help…
March 30th, 2014 at 14:55
Sorry to hear that, how did you find out about it?
March 30th, 2014 at 19:32
The book was to be published beginning of last year in Europe. Never heard from them after I sent items. After 6 months, I deleted all email addresses and did not follow up.
March 30th, 2014 at 13:54
Totally appropriate Carl!!!!! How hard is it to just acknowledge these things and give credit?????? I’m not Italian but as I was reading the images I TOTALLY got it!!!!

March 30th, 2014 at 13:54
Carl, I know that I have reblogged one of your cartoons, I believe that it did give you all due credit, yet I did not ask first and for this I apologize and will refrain from doing so in the future.

Oh, not to worry. Deepest regards in our Easter Season.

In the creative space, imitation (and even copying) can be seen as signs of flattery. That is one way of looking at it. But, it is no justification for the act.
Yes, that is a positive attitude.I’ll get over it. In a few decades.
March 30th, 2014 at 13:04
Carl, I also could not credit you enough for all the smiles and luaghs you give me.. March 30th, 2014 at 13:42
OK that is 100000000 : 1 to you my special friend…
March 30th, 2014 at 12:52
As an Italiano, giving them “the hands” is a funny gesture. May I use the three legged Angel. My payment to you is a credit to your link. I can neither write nor draw.
Thank you for your friendship and loyal support.

And don’t forget to give them the Malocchio (Evil Eye)..

Perhaps I will send him a poison pizza. Wait . I can’t. I deleted all reference already.
March 30th, 2014 at 09:32
Loved this one, but at least you are liked enough to be stolen from. Don’t think I am. Pinned, twitted, and will post on Facebook.
March 30th, 2014 at 10:08
The wisdom and empathy your blog radiates is very valuable to me.

Never go up against a Sicilian in an intellectual property situation. This lands at or near the top of the list of my favorites of your creation. Also, I think I owe you for your Ides of March cartoon a couple of years back. Please don’t send Guido!
March 30th, 2014 at 10:07
Not to worry. Your witty and entertaining posts are worth a gold coin or two anyway.
