Love this. Sometimes the most gnarled, damaged trees are the most interesting and beautiful to behold… but I doubt they would have chosen to be shaped that way.
I hope the tree gains comfort from our admiration.
Carl, this is tremendously moving. I am so glad I didn’t somehow miss reading it. You are so talented to be able to move between the humor of your cartoons and the express such deep emotion in poetry. I hope you’ll never hold back from sharing.
Another part of me. I have file 35 years of efforts at poetry covering a wild gamut of themes, styles and such from the deeply moving to whimsical and funny.
I can do sarcastic satire and political commentary but such would be inappropriate here. So with my stuff and guests it’ll be poetry , cartoons and art only.
This is fine, Carl–but your sad words are unexpected from one who normally luxuriates in the light side of life. Look forward to reading more of your serious work along with your wonderful fun stuff.
That is encouraging. I am reluctant to post much of my poetic efforts because followers expect cartoons and humor but things like this are being well received. Regards.

With nurturing support you offer it’s a fair bet the tree will respond

No one is and that’s why we must be gentle and tender to ourselves and others.
And, avoid those who are nasty. Love them, but from a distance!

This opens the eyes as does your cartoons, really not a departure but a coming together. Good shtufffs!
