I hope you had a very lovely Christmas. And I really enjoy your cartoons, Carl. I enjoy studying them for detail. I like the way the little guy in this cartoon has his own jack-in-the-box! I hope your new year is filled with good health and new inspirations!
missed you terribly but, I’ve been sick, have had friends from NY and, computer aches~ I pray your Christmas was as beautiful and blessed as you are to many of us. xo Blessings friend ~Deborah
I usually don’t read historical fiction but he researches so well we even learn how people cooked and what they wore and how they lived and struggled in harsh times beyond mere plot. I really feel like I know his characters in a very personal way because they are so human in the special way that conveys the universality of people throughout the ages. He writes post Roman Britain. That and Elizabethan England are two of my favorite times periods. Give him a wiki read to get understanding.
The ‘Jack in The Box’ was and is my favourite toy. So when I see it, it brings back good memories of Christmas pass -that which surprises keeps us on our toes I suppose.
Enjoy the day, the grand kids and shtufffs. Merry Christmas and all the best-est!
My fav was from about 30 years ago with Sesame Street Oscar the Grouch in pop up lid garbage can. Oh how my little son and I were entertained for hours on end.

I haven’t seen a jack-in-the-box for a long time. I used to love them! Merry Christmas, Carl. Thanks for all the smiles.

You are astute to look for a detail sometimes included. They give a second punch to the cartoon if you catch it and many do not.

Jack in the Boxes have always scared me. Even though I know I’ll hear the snap and they’ll jump at me with their creepy grins, I jump anyway.
I had a happy Christmas, not a ‘creepy’ one 🙂 Hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family as well!

I am learning to color with computer but don’t want to get too pro-ruins the style. It is freezing in Miami. It must be 68 out there this morning.
