Carl, I hope if you have friends and family in Staten Island now that they’re okay! What’s happened there is so horrible, and the response is disgraceful. I am so glad that the marathon was cancelled – it was unconscionable to consider having it.
News at the moment is that FEMA has at last made ground on New Dorp Beach. Also hitting the news is the announcement by Mayor Bloomberg that the NYC Marathon will go ahead. This has not gone down well with SI residents who see valuable recovery resources going to the marathon. It is certainly not pretty out there and

Thanks for update I did get hold of uncle a few minutes ago .They are on west side of island and did not get hit so hard.
