Beautiful work, Carl. I thought the style was not contemporary and now it all makes sense.
I have a lot of Vietnamese friends (the origin of my moniker “HoaiPhai” and another Vietnamese nickname with a long and interesting story) and while they by-and-large don’t bear a grudge they wish that things turned out differently. Do you remember the girl burnt by napalm who was made famous in the photos? Kim Phuc is alive and living near Toronto.
Yes, I have a copy of that mag cover and several dozen more from the period – all the classics. That picture affected millions of people and help end the war. She is an icon.
If you like the pendant email your post office address and I can at least mail a signed copy on paper of it. Have a jeweler/manufacturer will possibly consider production, I hope, in Brisbane, Australia.
Hell no ! We won’t go ! I will curse Lyndon Johnson forever. Thousands dead and maimed because he “wasn’t going to be the first president to lose a war”. 1 million Vietnamese casualties. 4 from my high school class of 1967 did not return.

Wow, very different from her usual fun stuff. I saw the crown of thorns right away. The rest I gleaned from the comments. Deep.

I was a little surprised that it was not recognized more readily by some. But of course it is not a style that most would see religious symbolism

Right away, I saw the nail through the hand. Is that the crown of thorns in the lower right corner?
