We all have our fingers crossed in hopes that Jackie will never grow up and abandon Puff (as predicted) and, now that they’ve joined up with Mary and her little lamb, will share in their immortality.
Not everyone does. So no explanation given. A lot of times things are uniquely American from me although I am surprised how many people follow here from across the English speaking world (England, Canada, India, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan and even Tasmania). A lot has to do with age as most of my audience is women in the 55 to 80 years old range so often humor is a generational connection. Some Spanish speakers don’t catch things because idioms sometimes cannot be conveyed language to language. My educational background is history, theology and American/British literature so my references may not be apparent to everyone. Sometimes it is the artist as not all of my cartoons are a smashing hit with everyone.
Wow, have you and magic Puff been..’travelling on boats with billowed sails?’ Mr. D’Agostino?
Hmm, you do live by the sea, very interesting.. Do you frolic in the Autumn mist?
Daytona. Took bus from college in Lakeland 1968 to spend day at beach there with 2 buddies. In 20 hours we got stopped and searched by the police 9 times. Never been back. Parents lived in Pt St Lucie before moving in with me. Hollywood – just up the road as I am in Aventura, NE corner of Miami Dade County. 2 casinos and a horse track – heaven.
I just love this one, Carl. I can remember learning Puff the Magic Dragon from my music teacher like it was yesterday. Good memories!! Loved that song and singing the harmony. Peter, Paul and Mary weren’t bad either, just a bit before me, but…I caught the re-runs.

Perhaps they should just jump on and go for a good fly over the king’s realm.

As long as we can bring Peter Pan into the equation, everything will be fine.

My gosh, Carl, I’m feeling really dumb here, but I don’t get this one. You don’t need to explain it (that’s an insult!) but I’m sorry, don’t get it. …

I hear the big bad wolf is out walking his piggies. Maybe they can meet up.

I am sure there won’t be any piggies left after that wolf walk.

I am two miles from Miami Beach and Peter Pan is one of my closest friends. However, I have never been to Honalee.

Hah, that Honalee is just a code word for “Hollywood, Daytona, and Port St. Lucie. All of us “paper boys” knew that..

PP & M, et. al. – I was there – perfect time – perfect age. Although that era left most of us scarred in one way or another.
