Hi Carl, I sent you some files yesterday. Just wanted to let you know in case I end up in your spam folder. Thanks again for the invite and be safe . . .
I had a non delegate floor pass for the 1968 and 1972 Rep conventions in Miami. Barry Goldwater would be astonished and disgusted with the jerks in the party of today.
Your a radical surfer dude? I would never have deciphered that from your map if it were not for Carl. But am not smart like Carl. If that is what your doing for the next week, ‘have fun and shtufffs’….whatever turns your crank and pumps the blood.
Call me a dum dum, but I actually have ‘To be on a island and experience a Hurricane’ on my bucket list. Not for the thrill but to experience the anguish as many are forced to and have no choice or escape, they just have hold up and face it.
This looks like a weak one so far. The crisis will be in Haiti were half a million people still live in tents from earthquake 3 years ago and open sewage will cause virulent contamination water supplies.
Yeah , at least 3 days heavy rains and 30-40 mile wind gusts your way. Not very damaging but could knock out power for a week or so like Wilma and Katrina did in 2005. Andrew left North Miami no power 11 days.
Prayers for your safety, Carl! Hurricanes are nothing to mess with — the water’s bad enough, but nobody likes being with power. Batten down the hatches!!
I sure do. Wheb we were kids we thought hurricanes were just a reason to stay home from school. Also, had some fun during a few of them. Still am most worried about losing power. Hate to throw out food.
I made hundreds of dollars in the early sixties cleaning up yards and chopping fallen trees after hurricanes, Fallen trees can be made into great forts with which lemons and grapefruit and oranges were the ammunition.
Stay safe, Carl. When I wrote about 2 days ago, I didn’t realize you – and Miami – were in the path of Isaac. We here on the east coast might only suffer some drenching.
Hope all goes well for you and your mother, my friend. It appears Isaac willl be downgraded to a Category 1 when it hits land, but it is expected to gain strength later.

I’ve been through every one since 1954. Even for mildly affected areas it can be 3-12 days with no electricity.

I’m sooo glad I don’t live in the Keys anymore! I hear the hurricanes drive the snakes out of the glades into the outskirts of Miami…
