I have been a fan of Funny Times but they have rejected submissions. But I have learned a lot about appropriate size and 300 dpi and how to add a bit of sophisticated clean up using computer and may submit again. I think they pay $5 or so but what is surprising is that they have the most professional cartoonists in the business appearing in the publication as well as such noted humorists as Garrison Keillor and Dave Barry so perhaps those are submitted with mere reprint rights. Am trying to put together a 100 page cartoon book of my own but digital formatting to printer standards is much more complicated than mere text.
Yes, don’t give up! I submit my essays regularly and have only been published with them once. But I keep trying because I think it’s a great publication. I think what’s important is that you learned something from trying. This writing business can be so discouraging, it’s helpful to look back sometimes to see how we’ve grown and evolved in our craft. Good luck with your book–sounds awesome.
So true, if I nevered tried your recipe last year and made artichokes for the first time I would not either, lol, but since I know this post cracks me up.

I par boil them and then stuff them with paste of seasoned bread crumbs and crab meat with egg as liquid, drizzle with olive oil and cheese and bake.

In a serious note I often substitute artichoke and spinach dip for macaroni instead od tomato sauce. It is very good hot or cold.
